Important message regarding counselling sessions
during the covid-19 outbreak
As per guidance from the UK government to work at home I would like to reassure you that I am still able to offer counselling and supervision sessions. These will be online or by phone for the forseeable future.
I am committed to enable your therapy sessions to continue with as little disruption as possible.
You have the choice of any one of the following options:
Face to face session on Zoom
I will send you an invitation link by email for you to join the session.
Zoom is free and easy to use and is accessible on PC/Mac or any mobile device.
Video session by WhatsApp videocall
I will call you on WhatsApp - a free messaging and videocalling app.
Session by phone call
I will call you on a landline or mobile phone.
If you feel the need to cancel or postpone your planned appointment
I have waived all cancellation fees for the forseeable future
If you have any questions about any of the options above, or need help with setting something up, just ask.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
There are so many reasons why you may be considering counselling.
It may be that you are feeling low, worried or upset about something and just can't shake the feeling. It may be that you feel 'stuck' at a point in life, and are unsure which way to turn next. Perhaps you are sick and tired of trying to please everyone else and need some time to de-stress. Or maybe something just doesn't feel right but you can't quite put your finger on what it is.
We all have times in our lives when things don't go the way we expect, plan or want them to. It could be because of something that happened in the past, is happening now or that you think might happen in the future. Whatever it is, counselling could help you cope with whatever you are going through.
Have you experienced trauma or series of traumatic events, either as a child or an adult? Have you witnessed something that has provoked an intense emotional reaction that you want to feel free of? Do you have symptoms of PTSD? Perhaps you have suffered an intensely embarrassing moment that is affecting the way you live your life today. I also offer EMI+ therapy (similar to EMDR) which can help unburden you of the weight of trauma you are carrying.
What may be a solution for others may not be the best for you, which is why I offer individual, tailored support, depending on what your needs are. You can come to me for counselling, EMI+ therapy or a combination of both, depending on what your issues are and what you want to achieve.
With experience in many areas, various age groups and with a warm, honest, accepting and down-to-earth approach, I provide you with a quiet, homely and relaxed space in a private therapy room in Darlington. Together we can look at whatever it is that is troubling you, finding a balance that is right for you and working towards finding a way through whatever it is that you are currently struggling with.
All sessions are relaxed and non-clinical. My aim is to make you feel at home and as comfortable as possible. If you struggle with the idea of face-to-face counselling, or for any reason you can't make it into Darlington, perhaps Skype counselling would be an option for you, from the comfort of wherever you want to be.
I'm passionate about personal development, and would love to work with you to help you understand yourself, so that you can grow and develop in a way that feels right for you. You may discover your 'new normal', recognise a new beginning or discover a new balance for your life. Counselling can be challenging, but more importantly it can be empowering, enlightening and life-changing. I will support you all the way.
My promises to you:
Whatever your reason for coming to me, I will provide you with a safe and confidential space in which you can explore any issues and inner conflicts that are affecting your life and others around you.
I work to the ethical standards of the BACP's 'Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions'. You can look at the BACP website for more information and to read in more detail what you can expect from me. Click here to visit the BACP website.
I am competent and committed to your wellbeing.
I am empathic, genuine, accepting and do not judge. I will be respectful of your life, background and any differences between us.
